Calgary Regional ARES fundraising.
- Written by Ian Burgess
Calgary Regional ARES is looking to find funds to purchace a portable repeater that can be setup on Public Safety events like Esquesterian trail rides, Off Road Rallies, Field Days, MEC rides, Community events, Flea Markets, and our signature event the Tour For Kids. The Tour for Kids is one of the largest fundrasing oppertunity for the Alberta Kids Cancer Centre, It's a 3 day ride through the beautiful Rocky Mountians.
All monies raised will be used to go towards the purchace of all the parts needed for a UHF Repeater, Duplexer, VHF Link Radio, UHF Link Radio, and a APRS Digipeater to provide a versitle portable repeater that can be used anywhere, and linkable to most any system.
We are looking to raise the funds before the summer 2016, and to have it operational and able to deploy to ANY ARES event, or HAM Club event in south and central Alberta.
After the 2013 floods Calgary Regional ARES learned a lot about what ws needed in the community for both a personal level and a minimum level of training that will assist the HAM on an emergency. The Second big thing we learned is that equipment like this need to be able to deploy rapadly to assist agencies and other ARES members around. If we can aquire a VHF Commercial repeater the same mast and antennas would work for SAR on their own systems.
